Whistle - Miniature Digital Servo Drive
Incredibly compact and smart digital servo drive for DC brush and brushless motors, linear motors and voice coils. The Whistle weighs only 50 grams and is the size of a match-box (2in?). Despite its size it can deliver 500W of continuous power or 1000W of peak power.
The whistle is small and light enough to be mounted in a motor housing or near the motor. This significantly reduces the amount of cabling and associated maintenance.
Power to the Whistle is provided by an external 12-95 VDC isolated DC power supply. A "smart" control-supply algorithm enables the Whistle to operate with the power supply only, with no need for auxiliary power. If back-up functionality is required for storing control parameters during power-outs, an auxiliary 12-95 VDC power supply can be connected, providing maximum flexibility and optional backup functionality when needed.The Whistle incorporates a digital motion controller that features CANopen networking, a position loop, a velocity loop, a current loop and a very wide range of feedback and I/O options.
The Whistle is fully programmable with Elmo Motion Control's programming language (32 KB of memory is available for storing programs). Using Elmo's Composer setup tool, Whistle users can perform drive setup, configuration, tuning, analysis and drive programming quickly and easily.
